“Boston in 100 Words” is a short story contest inviting all Boston residents to write stories of no more than 100 words that depict everyday life in their communities.
Since 2019, “Boston in 100 Words” has received a total of 1,043 stories from 929 people between the ages of 6 and 92. The stories have come from all 25 Boston neighborhoods and 13 surrounding cities.
The winning stories are publicly disseminated for free on large illustrated posters installed throughout the city. Stories have also been translated into some of Boston’s most widely spoken languages, including Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Haitian Creole.
